"I aim to write in a way which makes the text accessible to both teachers when planning and the learner."

Aliss has always enjoyed the subject of English and reading. She chose to use her love of the subject when she completed an Honours degree from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2000. She then completed an English PGCE at Edge Hill University and taught English for many years.

"I have wanted to write from a very young age therefore decided to complete a Masters degree in Writing Studies part-time, whilst teaching full-time between 2003 and 2005. A few years after completion, I felt that I wanted to use my developing skills in an interesting way, which led me to contact ZigZag."

"The reviewing system is interesting and very effective, allowing the possibilty of further improvement."

Aliss joined ZigZag for a new challenge. "I have always wanted to be a published writer and have been interested in writing resources based on texts which I have enjoyed teaching over the past few years."

"I also enjoy analyising texts and considering different approaches and possible alternative readings. I particuarly enjoyed wiriting the study guide for Heroes, a GCSE text which I think is gaining in popularity. I like to read a text and think about possible creative approaches to it."

Aliss enjoys working with ZigZag Education because of the instant feedback which she recieves with regards to her work in process.

"I like how the process of developing a resource is interactive, with positive feedback and ideas for improvement. I also like how the resource looks when it is finished, I feel a strong sense of accomplishment! The layout always looks amazing and the illustrations really do the text justice."

Aliss has completed some GCSE study guides for the new syllabuses next year: Of Mice and Men study guide, A View from the Bridge study guide and A Christmas Carol study guide. She has also completed a poetry pack for AQA focusing on the Character and Voice cluster and just finished working on the final draft of a Heroes activity pack to accompany her study guide.
